SpaceXYZ grew from an invitation I extended to artists Peter Weidenbaum and Roel Vandermeeren, following earlier exhibitions in which they had invited me to participate. Our works share an interest in space, perception and reflection, while each develops its own distinct visual language.

The project brought our practices together within the historical setting of the Abbey of Sint-Truiden, where architecture, time and atmosphere became an active part of the exhibition.

I conceived the project and selected the participating artists and artworks, shaping the exhibition in close dialogue with curator Annemie Van Laethem. With more than forty years of experience working with contemporary art in historical buildings, she guided the spatial installation and helped translate the project into the unique architecture of the Abbey of Sint-Truiden.

The accompanying text was written by Mieke Mels (curator, Mu.ZEE), who visited our studios and exhibitions beforehand to reflect on the common ground between the three artistic practices.

The project was realised in collaboration with CC De Bogaard, VZW Herita and the City of Sint-Truiden. An artist talk with Martine Geerts, supported by VZW TeamWorkProjects, further opened the exhibition to public dialogue, accompanied by a performance by altviolist Alek De Cock.
