In this painting I have captured in oil paint a space where the everyday and the metaphysical meet. The doorway to a toilet, often considered a purely functional place, I transform here into a portal to reflection. As a starting point for this work I have used myself as a model, with a book on my lap, in which I discovered an image of an antique version of an outdoor toilet from France.
