In this oil painting I have combined a landscape with both figurative and surreal elements, exploring the boundaries of reality and metaphysics. The intention is to invite the viewer to self-reflect on their place in the world and their zeitgeist. The subject of the study this time was a photo I took of the current setting at CIRCUS MAXIMUS, where horse races used to be held in Rome. The opening up of this image shows the inability to hold a snapshot of time. At the same time it also shows the playfulness of the transition from one perception to another.
